Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture is famous as a sightseeing spot for Hirosaki Castle, Mt. Iwaki, and cherry blossoms, but did you know that many cute retro cafes and general stores are also scattered throughout the city?
There are many spots that are unique to the local area that you may not know about yet! There are many unique spots in Hirosaki that you may not know about.
In this issue, we will introduce cafes and stores that are easily accessible from Hirosaki Station in Hirosaki City.

Stylish cafe in Hirosaki "CAFE & RESTAURANT BRICK

(Open-air store)

First of all, let me introduce you to CAFE & RESTAURANT BRICK.
It is located next to the Hirosaki Renga Soko Art Museum, about 10 minutes from Hirosaki Station via a circular bus.

Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by a high ceiling and an open space.
Inside the restaurant's relaxed atmosphere, there is a cidery where you can enjoy delicious ciders made from apples produced in Aomori Prefecture along with the cuisine.

(Stylish one-plate lunch)

This time we ordered a one-plate lunch!
We ordered a one-plate lunch this time! The main ingredient was Aomori's seasonal produce, and the large number of items made for a full and delicious meal.
The one-plate lunch is a colorful and photo-worthy dish.

There were a variety of other dishes on the menu, including pasta and meat dishes, all of which looked delicious.
I would definitely like to try other dishes next time!

The museum store attached to the restaurant has a variety of eye-catching goods and books featuring the works of Yoshitomo Nara, a contemporary artist from Hirosaki City!
Currently (as of October 2022), the adjacent museum is hosting an exhibition looking back on Yoshitomo Nara's exhibitions held in the 2000s, "Hello, Can We Have an Exhibition of Mr. Nara?" is also being held. (until March 21, 2023)

Why not visit after dinner at CAFE & RESTAURANT BRICK?

Green" is a cute store with colorful kogin stitching.

From here, we would like to introduce a popular restaurant in the Daikancho area that is popular among the locals!
This is select store green, which handles Aomori's traditional crafts such as Kogin Sashimi in an elegant store.
(Exterior based on white color)
The cute white exterior and sunlight streaming into the store make it a very cozy place.
Inside the store, colorful kogin-sashis are beautifully displayed.
There was a wide range of colors from pretty light blue and pink to standard colors.

(Various kinds of kogin stitch goods)

Here are the items purchased by JR East Travel Service Center Aomori staff
After deciding on a favorite from among the many "colors" of kogin-sashi, we went to the cash register, where we were presented with several different "designs"!
It was difficult to choose one because they were all so cute, but this time I purchased this card holder!
There are so many different colors and patterns of Kogin Sashi, so why don't you find your favorite one?

BOULANGERIE ISHITA Ishida Bread", known locally as "Ishida Bread".

Next, I would like to introduce BOULANGERIE ISHITA Ishida bread!
Just a short walk from the green shop I introduced earlier, it has a distinctive crisp red exterior.
(The red exterior is a nice feature.)
Founded in 1925, the store has long been a local favorite, but in 2013, the current fourth-generation owner-chef reopened the store.
Not only can you taste the authentic French flavor, but the atmosphere is also very particular!
(Standard cream buns and bean buns)
(Hard breads and breads for side dishes)
There are many kinds of breads on display in the store, and in addition to the standard cream buns, jam buns, and prepared breads as in long-established stores, there are also hard breads such as sandwiches, danishes, buckets, and focaccia.
Hard breads are very popular among JR East Travel Service Center Aomori staff.

We hope you will try them, too!
