Apples bountifully harvested!

The abundant variety of apples was amazing!

You all know Aomori Prefecture, the apple kingdom! Aomori Prefecture is the apple kingdom. Aomori Prefecture produces the largest amount of apples in Japan with a 60% share of the national market!
And Hirosaki City, famous for its cherry blossoms in spring, produces the most apples in Aomori Prefecture.
There are several apple-picking facilities in Hirosaki City.

The "Hirosaki City Apple Park" introduced here is located within easy reach of Hirosaki Station by bus.
In the vast site of about 9.7 hectares (1.5 times the size of Tokyo Dome), there are 2300 apple trees of about 80 varieties, and there are about 40 varieties that can be harvested.
In addition, other varieties of apples are planted, including ornamental and major varieties dating back to the Meiji era.

We actually experienced apple picking!

Aomori is known for its apples. Have you ever actually experienced apple picking?
In fact, among the staff of JR East Travel Service Center Aomori, there were few people who had actually experienced apple picking, even though they live in Aomori.
This time, JR East Travel Service Center Aomori staff actually experienced apple picking, and we would like to report on the experience!

The three types of apples that were harvested in early September were "Tsugaru," "Miki-Life," and "Ki-Oh.

How to tell a good apple from a bad one

The best way to tell the difference between "Tsugaru" and "Miki Life" is the bright red apples!
Yellow King" is also said to be tasty if it is yellow. It was difficult to tell whether they were green or yellow.
It seems that the key is not to look at the location, size, or shape of the fruit, but to look at the "color".

We enjoyed apple picking while learning which apples were good for us.
How to tell the difference between a good apple and a bad one...
I got it well...

How to pick apples well

1) Hold the apple with your index finger in the hollow where the stem is attached.
(2) Rotate the apple so that the index finger is facing down!
The key is to hold the apple as shown in the image!
By moving the apples in the order of 1), 2), and 3), the shafts easily came off the branches and they were able to pull the apples well.
Be careful not to pull too hard or you will damage the "flower buds" that will produce delicious apples next year.

How to enjoy eating apples

I heard that storing apples at room temperature for a day and then in the refrigerator will increase the sweetness of the apples.
I thought that storing at room temperature was the basic rule... I learned a lot!
