What is Hakuba village and Otari village like?
Since 1998, Hakuba Village has become internationally known and the number of foreign visitors to the village has increased rapidly due to the active acceptance of local residents. The number of foreign visitors to Hakuba Village has increased dramatically since 1998. Even today, the village has a rich international flavor that attracts many foreigners, especially during the ski season.
Kotani Village is a small village located in the northwestern corner of Nagano Prefecture, surrounded by mountains and deep enough in snow to be designated as a special heavy snowfall area.
In addition to winter sports, various activities such as paragliding can be enjoyed during the green season as well.
Hakuba Happo One Nature Trail~Happo Pond/Hotel Hakuba
The 1.5-hour trekking course to Happoike is dotted with spectacular spots overlooking 11 of Japan's 100 most famous mountains, and on clear days, from the first cairn (*), Mt.
Fuji from the first cairn (*) on clear days. The area from Kurorishidaira to the top is designated as Chubu-Sangaku National Park as well as a Nagano Prefecture Natural Monument. In addition to rare alpine plants, the area is home to a large number of plants and animals, including the Japanese serow and grouse, which are designated as special natural treasures. The overwhelming mountain scenery, which changes with the seasons, is a must-see.
*Cairns are guideposts made of piled up stones to prevent visitors from getting lost when climbing in fog.

5 minutes by bus from JR Hakuba Station, 10 minutes on foot from Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal bus stop. From Happo Station, take the gondola or lift for about 40 minutes. From Happo Ike Sanso (First Cairn), 90 min. on foot.

Shuttle buses to Tsugaike Kogen, Happo One, and Iwatake are available from in front of the hotel in both summer and winter, making it a recommended hotel for sightseeing in the area.
The rooms are available on either the Hakuba Sanzan or Goryu-dake side, but which side you will be staying in will be decided on the day of your stay. Please note that we cannot accept your choice of room on the day of the tour.

Tsugaike Nature Park/Hotel Sierra Resort Hakuba
It takes about 3.5 to 4 hours to walk around the park, but if you are short on time or are not confident about your stamina, there are also the Mizubasho Marsh Course and the Watasuge Marsh Course, which take about 1 to 1.5 hours, allowing you to fully enjoy the nature of the highlands.

From JR Hakuba Station, take the Tsugaike Ropeway after getting off at Tsugaike Kogen bus stop (approx. 20 minutes by gondola, approx. 200m transfer, approx. 7 minutes by ropeway, approx. 500m to the entrance).
