Kirifuri-no-Taki Falls, one of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan

Kirifuri Waterfall is one of the three most famous waterfalls in Nikko, along with Kegon Waterfall and Urami-no-Taki Waterfall, and has been selected as one of the "100 best waterfalls in Japan" and "100 scenic spots in Tochigi. It is one of the popular sightseeing spots located close to Nikko Station (10 minutes by bus from Nikko Station). Divided into upper and lower sections of 25 m and 26 m waterfalls, respectively, the waterfalls are 75 m long and 3 m wide at the top and widen to 15 m at the bottom, offering a beautiful view of the cascading water.

The name "Kirifuri-no-Taki" comes from the fact that the water splashing against the rock wall looks like mist falling, and on rainy days, when the conditions are right, you can see a cloud of water rising up. It is a nice point to know that there is a view that can be seen only because of the rain.

From Nikko Station on the JR Nikko Line, take the Tobu Bus bound for Kirifuri Kogen (or Kirifuri Falls in winter). 10 minutes to Kirifuri Falls and a 10-minute walk to the viewing platform.

Ryuzu-no-taki Falls is one of the three most famous waterfalls in Oku-Nikko, located in a place called Oku-Nikko, 65 minutes by bus from Nikko Station. From JR Nikko Station, take the bus bound for Yumoto Onsen (Yumoto Onsen Hot Spring) for about 1 hour and 5 minutes, and get off at Ryuzu-no-taki Waterfall bus stop. 2-minute walk from the bus stop.
