You have a chance to visit the aquarium twice a month! I've been to the Hokkaido Railway Museum, which is full of Hokkaido's railroad heritage!

C62 3 is on display only during the summer (generally from May to November).

A valuable museum that can be enjoyed by everyone from children to adults.

Hello. This is the Hokkaido News Department. This time, we would like to report on our experience at the Hokkaido Railway Museum, which we introduced in *and trip. The museum is located in the JR Hokkaido Naebo Plant, one station away from JR Sapporo Station.
At the entrance of the plant, we filled in our name and contact information, received a map with precautions for the site, and then entered the plant.
From the entrance to the Railway Museum, you will walk through the factory grounds, which are normally closed to visitors.
The brick building of the Railway Engineering Museum is the oldest building in the factory, built in 1910 as a warehouse for supplies of the Naebo Plant. Other brick buildings, such as the locomotive inspection station, also remind visitors of the plant's history.

The locomotive inspection area is also made of bricks.

Memories of the trains that ran through the land of Hokkaido can be found here and there!

On the first floor of the technical pavilion, a diorama and the cabs of a Kiha 82 that actually ran in Hokkaido and a resort train are on display. (*To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, visitors are not allowed to enter the driver's cab.)
The emblem of the Furano Express reminded me of the excitement I felt when I went skiing with my family, and the head mark of the "Hokutosei" sleeping car express reminded me of the excitement I felt when I saw "Ueno" displayed on the electric board at Sapporo Station, which made me nostalgic.
On the second floor, historical materials, equipment, and photographs of the history of the factory and the manufacture and restoration of the SL are on display. Time flew by as I slowly looked at each item.
The actual emblem on the side of the car body of the Flano Express, which appeared in 1986. It is quite large when seen up close.
The "Kaikyo" rapid train that operated from the opening of the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line in March 1988 to 2002.

Visiting opportunities are available twice a month!

You can see that it was made at the Naebo factory in 1938.
This is a DMV developed in 2002 that can run on both tracks and roads.
Since it was the middle of the summer vacation, there were many tourists visiting from outside Hokkaido. Everyone was enjoying the tour with camera in hand.
Since the Hokkaido Railway Museum is located inside the Naebo Plant, there are many areas on the premises that are off-limits to visitors. Please follow the rules and have a good time during your visit.
