Narusawa Ice Cave is located at the eastern entrance to the Aokigahara Sea of Trees and is one of the most popular sightseeing spots on the Fuji Five Lakes, attracting tourists throughout the year. These two tunnel-shaped caves were formed more than 1150 years ago (864) during the eruption of Nagao, a side volcano of Mt. Fuji, when a scorching lava flow (Aokigahara Maruo) flowed down between old parasitic volcanoes.

The cave is a ring-shaped pit with a total length of 153 m, a width of 1.5 m to 11 m, and a height of 1 m to 3.6 m. Because of its ring shape, visitors can enjoy the various faces of the cave by circling it once.

How about a souvenir?

The store sells original Narusawa Ice Cave products. Please pick one up to commemorate your visit. It will surely be a memorable experience.

We also recommend visiting Fugaku-kaze Cave!

About a 15-minute walk from the Narusawa Ice Cave we introduced here is the Fugaku Fubon Cave, a representative lava cave at the foot of Mt. With an average temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, it was used as a "natural refrigerator" in the days when refrigeration equipment was not available. The cave is a "side cave" that is easy for children and the elderly to explore. Why not visit this one as well?
