I want to visit before I die! World's Greatest Scenery, "The Best of the Best in Japan, 2017," by World's Greatest Scenery!

Unshoji Temple, located on the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture, is famous for its "blue hydrangeas. The best time to see the hydrangeas is from mid-June to early July every year. The vice-abbot of Unshoji spent more than 15 years cultivating the hydrangeas, which cover the entire temple grounds, and are a sight to behold!

Access

About 45 minutes (34km) by car from Showa Oga Peninsula IC
From JR Akita Station, take the Oga Line to Oga Station or Hattachi Station, about 1 hour. From JR Akita Station, take the Oga Line to Oga Station or Hattachi Station, about 20 to 40 minutes (16 km) by Namahage shuttle, local bus, or cab.
From Oga Onsen-kyo, it is about 7 minutes (4 km) by car.
