The beauty that leaves you speechless! Shakotan Blue! Shakotan Town, Hokkaido

Have you ever seen such a deep blue sea? This scenery is called "Shakotan blue" and can be seen in Shakotan Town located in the northwestern part of Hokkaido. Shakotan Town here is a town with a thriving fishing industry facing the Sea of Japan. Shakotan Peninsula" in Shakotan Town is included in "Niseko Shakotan Otaru National Park" and the sea in Shakotan Town is the only sea area park in Hokkaido. In addition, "Shakotan Peninsula and Cape Kamui Misaki" is registered as a Hokkaido Heritage Site. The most dynamic view can be enjoyed by following the "Chalenka Trail" to Cape Kamui, which is about a 20-minute walk one way. You can feel the fragrance of the sea at the tip of Cape Kamui, which rises out of the Sea of Japan. There is a gate at the entrance of Cape Kamui, which opens and closes at different times depending on the season.
The yellow flower in the foreground is the Ezo Kanzo, which blooms all over Japan, but the Ezo Kanzo in Hokkaido is said to be especially beautiful!
Incidentally, it is a bit long, about 100 km from Sapporo to Cape Kamui, but the drive while viewing the coastline is exceptional! If you are traveling by plane or train, it might be a good idea to rent a car and extend your trip.

The sea urchin fishing season in Shakotan Town is from June to August, depending on the weather. Why don't you try a fresh sea urchin bowl in Shakotan Town?

Besides the sea urchin bowl, there is another dessert that you should definitely try.
It is called "Shakotan Blue Soft". It is a mint-flavored soft serve ice cream made in the image of the blue sea seen from Cape Kamui. How about taking a break after a stroll? It is sure to be a photo-worthy item!
