Located near the Tomiwa Canal Kansui Park, the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art has a distinctive glass-walled exterior built with luxurious wood and aluminum from Toyama Prefecture. Many people from inside and outside of the prefecture visit this facility to enjoy art while taking in the beautiful scenery. The "Onomatopoeia Rooftop" garden on the rooftop is popular among families with children because of its many colorful and innovative playground equipment and artworks created by designer Taku Satoh based on the concept of onomatopoeia (onomatopoeia), such as "fluffy," "whispering," and "going around!

The Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art also has a restaurant and café inside, which is a great place to take a break after seeing the exhibitions. This time, we would like to introduce a cafe on the first floor of the museum!

Swallow Cafe is a new type of cafe opened by a popular bagel specialty store in Toyama Prefecture. The word "swallow" means "swallow," but it also means "to drink and eat" in Old English, and we want to be like a "nest" to which customers can return anytime after experiencing art and design or playing on the rooftop of Onomatopee, eating happily and "sitting down" slowly. ......The name of the restaurant is said to reflect this wish.
Roast beef & avocado wasabi
Smoked salmon & plump shrimp
In the open space of the store, you can enjoy not only popular bagels but also French toast, cakes, smoothies, and more. There is also a plate that includes a bagel, salad, and soup. On this particular day, I chose the "Roast Beef & Avocado Wasabi" and "Smoked Salmon & Plump Shrimp" as single items. Both were generous in volume, with enough ingredients to overflow from the bagel! The bagels, made with rice flour from Toyama Prefecture, are fluffy and sticky, and are quite satisfying on their own. Next time, I would like to try their freshly baked French toast with bagels. You can also take them out, so on a nice day, you can move to the Toyama Canal Waterfront Park to eat them.

Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art is currently holding a special exhibition, "Mika Ninagawa Exhibition in Commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art," until May 15 (Sun.). Special exhibitions commemorating the museum's 5th anniversary will continue after that, so be sure to stop by if you are interested!
