One of the highlights of the Alpine Route in spring is the powerful "Snow Valley," but do you know how high the snow wall is this year? Do you know how high the snow wall was this year? Due to the heavy snowfall this season, there was more snow than usual, and the height of the snow wall was the highest in the past five years. (By the way, the height last year was 14 meters.)

About "Tateyama Kurobe Snow Valley Festival

■Outline of the event
Period: April 15 (Friday) to June 25 (Saturday), 2022 9:30-15:00
Venue: Tateyama Murododaira, Tateyama Toll Road, Daikanbo Station

Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route will hold "Tateyama Kurobe Snow Valley Festival" from mid April to late June, right after the entire route opens. The "Yuki-no-Otani Walk" allows visitors to walk through the dynamic snow walls and enjoy the spectacular views that represent Tateyama Kurobe in spring, including towering, powerful snow walls and the contrast between the blue sky above the clouds and the silvery white snow landscape. Other fun events include "Panorama Road," a snow-covered promenade offering a panoramic view of the Tateyama Mountain Range, "#Uchi no Oya," a 10-meter-high miniature snow valley where visitors can send messages to their loved ones by carving them on the valley, "Kumataro," a snow removal vehicle, and "Snow Pocket" and "Snow Tunnel" at Daikanbo Station!
To encounter higher, white walls of snow, we recommend April, just after the opening. The altitude is high and the temperature is still winter, but it gets hot when walking, so a jacket that is easy to put on and take off is useful. Waterproof trekking shoes or boots are necessary for walking on snow on the Panorama Road and Murodo Plateau. (Shoes with slippery soles are not recommended.) On sunny days, it is good to bring sunglasses and sunscreen because of the strong reflection of the snow. It is recommended to bring sunglasses and sunscreen!
