From Tokyo to Kanazawa! Hokuriku Shinkansen with the E7 Series in action!

The Hokuriku Shinkansen connecting Tokyo and Kanazawa uses the E7 series cars. The seats in the train are designed in the image of "Japanese future" to connect traditional Japanese culture with the future. The refinement and openness of the train creates a calm atmosphere. Time spent in such a train will be one of the most memorable experiences.
Inside the train

Karuizawa Station, where you can view Mt. Asama from the Shinkansen

Departing from Takasaki Station, the train travels on a continuous steep grade from Annaka Haruna Station to Karuizawa Station. The driver takes great care not to slow down during this section, and from the driver's cab it seems as if you are riding on a roller coaster. After passing through a tunnel in the mountains, the train arrives at Karuizawa Station, a popular tourist destination. From the train window, you can see slopes, golf courses, outlets crowded with people, and the majestic Mt.

Ueda Station" to enjoy history and the seasons

The train continues along the Chikuma River, which can be seen between tunnels, to Saku-daira Station, Ueda Station, and Nagano Station. From Ueda Station, let's go to Ueda Castle Ruins Park. In front of the station, you will be welcomed by a statue of the brave Yukimura Sanada riding a horse. The castle is a beautiful scenic spot where you can enjoy the history of the castle with its turreted gate and moat, as well as the seasonal beauty of the 1,000 cherry trees and rows of zelkova trees.

Arrive at Nagano Station! Recommended product is "Fukimiso" (bean paste)

The Asama train arrives at Nagano Station, the last stop on the route, in just over an hour and a half from Tokyo. The Shinkansen crew recommends "Fukimiso" as a souvenir. Fukimiso is made by chopping up butterbur sprouts and mixing them with miso or frying them. The recommended way to eat it is "ON the Rice". Please enjoy this flavorful and bittersweet delicacy.
