Let's go see the dinosaurs of the Ice Age! KATSUYAMA DINOSAUR FOREST

Fukui Prefecture's favorite spot for dinosaur lovers is the Katsuyama Dinosaur Forest. The vast park is home to many dinosaur-related facilities, including the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, one of the world's three major dinosaur museums; Tyrannosaurus Square, where dinosaur-shaped playground equipment is popular; Doki Doki Dinosaur Excavation Land, where visitors can experience fossil excavation; and Chamagon Square, where a dinosaur roller slide is located.
Katsuyama Dino Park, introduced previously, is one such facility. The park, which is home to 44 life-size dinosaurs, is especially recommended for taking pictures that make you feel as if you have wandered into a dinosaur's habitat.

However, the park is closed during the winter season, so the dinosaurs at Katsuyama Dino Park will hibernate until spring. Please note that "Doki Doki Dinosaur Excavation Land" and "BBQ Garden" in the park will also be closed during winter. You may think that you will not be able to enjoy your visit in winter because the slides and other playground equipment in the park will not be available when it snows, but that is not true. You can enjoy the winter-only snow play area "Snowland" and other sights that can only be seen in winter.
Snowland offers attractions such as a sledding slope and a one-kilometer cross-country ski course. The sledding slope is a popular area every year, as it has a gentle slope and is safe even for small children. In case of bad weather, Snowland may be temporarily closed, so it is recommended to check the official website before going.

The sight of the park's dinosaurs covered in snow is like an ice age. Although playground equipment cannot be used, building snowmen and other activities are allowed, so it is only during the winter that you can take pictures like this while playing in the snow around the dinosaurs!
There are ski resorts nearby, and the area is deep in snow, so if you are coming by car, be sure to install snow tires or tire chains before you go. The only other place in the prefecture where you can see dinosaurs is JR Fukui Station, but if you are a dinosaur lover, I highly recommend that you extend your visit to Katsuyama City. The Katsuyama Dinosaur Forest has different attractions no matter what season you visit, so why not experience the "Katsuyama Dinosaur Forest" in each of the four seasons?
