The soba restaurant "Jippensha" is located in the Kaminashi district on the way to Suganuma village from the World Heritage Site of Gokayama Ainokura village. Can you read the name "Jippensha"? I had a lot of trouble trying to read it, but the correct answer is "Jippensha. It is difficult. I almost missed the signboard because of the continuous snowy mountains. Inside the store, the lights of Gokayama washi paper create a warm atmosphere.
When we visited, it was a cold and snowy day, but we enjoyed cold soba noodles. The restaurant claims to serve Gokayama tofu and handmade soba noodles, so before the soba noodles, you can enjoy fried Gokayama tofu. The tofu, which is hard and tough, is heated to a firm texture, and the broth has a gentle taste that makes you want to drink it all up. The soba noodles are also very promising.
The buckwheat noodles are handmade every morning by grinding domestic buckwheat flour on a millstone and using delicious Gokayama water before it loses its aroma, and are served with Gokayama tofu, mushrooms, and seasonal vegetable tempura. The soba noodles are thin and firm, and we recommend slurping them vigorously.

From the tables in the back of the restaurant, you can look down on the clear stream of the Shogawa River through a glass window and enjoy delicious soba in the great outdoors.
