The Himi cold weather has been declared, so we went to Himi again this year! Himi Fish Market Restaurant

On Thursday, January 6, the season of Himi Kanburi, a winter delicacy representing Toyama Bay, was declared open!
This was the latest declaration after the New Year's Eve, the first time since we started the initiative to declare the start of shipping since 2011. In the past few years, they have usually been issued around late November or early December, and last year's declaration was also on November 21. The reason for the delay this year is that this season's catch has been unstable, making it difficult to issue a declaration.
Since the long-awaited declaration was issued, I immediately revisited the "Fish Market Shokudo" located in Himi Fishing Port in search of Himi's cold yellowtail!

Here is the article of my visit one year ago (last December)! ↓↓↓↓
The cafeteria is located on the second floor of Himi Fishing Port, so you can observe the auction on the first floor!
As it was a three-day weekend right after the declaration of cold weather in Himi, many cars with license plates from other prefectures were lined up in the parking lot of Himi Fishing Port this time. We arrived a little after 8:00 a.m., but there was already a waiting line ......

! One of the major changes from last year is that you can now reserve a date and time in advance online! This meant that we were smoothly guided to our seats as soon as we arrived. The reservation slots at lunchtime fill up quickly, so we recommend making reservations as early as possible.
The "Reserved" sign in the number is for advance reservations.
Please note that this is not a "reserve a seat" reservation, but only a "make sure you are at the front of the line" at the specified time. A ticketing machine has been installed next to the diner entrance, making it much easier to find your order! (If you have made a reservation in advance, you will be called by name, not number.) If you are not present at the time of the call, the next customer will be shown to you first. (If you make a reservation in advance, you will be called by name, not number.
Himi Kanburi-don (Bowl of rice topped with a bowl of cold yellowtail)
The other kaisen-don and set menus are tempting, but we carefully selected the "Himi Kanburi-don" and "Himi Kanburi Kama Shioyaki" from the limited menu available only during the Kanburi season this year! The Himi kanburi donburi is still gorgeous with this petal-like visual. Last year, it was half sashimi and half seared, but this year it was 100% sashimi, raw and powerful. The combination with Toyama Koshihikari rice is perfect. The buritoro served in the center of the dish melts on your tongue and fills your mouth with delicious flavor.
Fisherman's soup in an earthenware pot (for two)
Himi kanburi kama shio (grilled yellowtail kama with salt)
Fisherman's soup in an earthenware pot here comes with the rice bowl set meal order. The ara and surimi in the soup are large and filling, and the dashi broth gives it a hearty flavor. The warmth of the broth is very soothing to a cold body. The buri kama (yellowtail kama) has a strong salt flavor, so it tastes great as is, but I preferred it with a little soy sauce!

This is the place to go if you want to enjoy fresh cold yellowtail in a variety of dishes, including rice bowl, sashimi, buri-shabu, and salt-baked buri. If you go a little further and stop by Himi Banyagai, you can see the previous day's catch of yellowtail and the season total, so be sure to check it out!
On Friday, there were 1535 pieces!
On a side note, we drove to Amehare Beach because it was the perfect location to see the Tateyama mountain range clearly! The mountains are covered with snow and the air is clear, so only in winter can you see such a beautiful view. A trip to Toyama in winter is highly recommended.
I was able to take such a beautiful picture even with my phone!
