Agano River Line Rafting Boat Ride
- Niigata
- Experience Gifu
In order to best enjoy the scenery of this Agano River, I took a ride on the Agano River Line Rafting and would like to report on the experience.
The "Rhine" in Agano River Rhine Rafting does not come from the English word "Line," but from the Rhine River that flows through Germany and other countries. The word "Rhine" is derived from the Rhine River, which flows through Germany and other countries. It is also derived from Isabella Bird's comment that the scenery she saw when she went boating on the Agano River was more beautiful than that of the original Rhine River, which is known for its scenic beauty.
It is very luxurious to be able to enjoy the same view as Isabella Bird from the same vantage point as the world-famous Rhine River or better.
Now it's time to board the boat!
The boat landing is located on the riverside about a minute's walk from Michi no Sato Agano Station. Applications for boarding are accepted at the Michi-no-Eki until 10 minutes before boarding, so please come with plenty of time to spare.
Because of the gentle current of the river, the boat does not sway at all while moored at the pier.
The Isabella Bird is a jet boat, but because it travels down the gently flowing Agano River, it does not speed up or sway greatly. When the boat is crowded, auxiliary seats are available, but the recommended seat is near the middle of the boat, on the window side, to best enjoy the scenery.
Enjoy the vast view of the Agano River from the surface of the water

After leaving the landing area, the boat rises up the river in a single bound and then descends slowly with the flow of the river. Today, there are many bridges across the Agano River, but in the past, due to the steep mountains on both sides of the river, traffic was limited to narrow roads along the river until the late 1960s.
The beautiful scenery was very interesting as we listened to the boatman talk about how the river was crossed in those days, the surrounding mountains, the hot spring resort, the dam, and the history of boat cruising.

In early November, the Agano River was beautiful with the changing colors of autumn leaves. It is said that the autumn leaves will be at their best from now on, so why not visit and enjoy the scenery that can only be enjoyed during the current season?
The Banetsu Monogatari (SL Banetsu Monogatari) is also known to operate on the Banetsu-Nishi Line that runs along the Agano River.
On the 10:00 service on SL operation days, they bring the boat closer so that you can see the SL train running along the river from closer than anyone else.
There are many other points to enjoy besides the scenery
During the boat ride, the boatman introduces various views and the history of the town of Aga and Sakibana Onsen.
During the 40-minute ride, the boatman sang two songs, which was very exciting.
Other than this boatman, we were guided by other boatmen of various personalities. Some of them have exquisite singing voices that you must hear at least once when you come on a cruise ship! Some of them have an exquisite singing voice that you must hear at least once when you come on a sightseeing boat.

Various creatures live around the Agano River. On this day, we were able to see nearly 10 monkeys and cormorants. You can enjoy the rich nature of the Agano River on a river cruise. Why not give it a try?
