Nami no Hana" in Japanese and "Cappuccino Coast" in English.
In such rough seas of the Sea of Japan in winter, a phenomenon called the "Cappuccino Coast" sometimes occurs. The Japanese name for this phenomenon is "Nami no Hana (flower of the waves).
Nami no Hana" is a foamy phenomenon caused by the plankton in seawater from the waves hitting the rocky shore. Nami no Hana can be seen between Mashima and Mise Stations on days when the waves are high during the winter.
Nami no Hana (wave flowers) sometimes come up to the Sasagawa Nagare (Sasagawa Stream), a national natural treasure!
The Sasagawa Nagare (Sasagawa Stream), an 11-kilometer stretch of beautiful scenery, is located in this area and is designated as a national scenic beauty spot and a natural monument. Its name is derived from the name of the Sasagawa village in the center of the river, which is named after the tidal current that rises and flows between the rocks. In heavy stormy weather, you can sometimes see the flowers of the waves moving up the small river that flows into the Sasagawa-ryu.
How to take a beautiful picture of the Nami no Hana?
When we think of the Sea of Japan, we tend to focus only on the taste, but when you visit Hazama Island, please pay attention to the sea of the Sea of Japan as well.
