From May to July, it is a coveted destination for flower lovers.

The Kirifuri Plateau is a highland area about 1,200 meters above sea level that stretches along the eastern foot slope of the 2010-meter-high Akanzan Mountain. It is famous for its abundance of alpine flora, with a variety of azaleas in spring, 260,000 Nikkoukisuge plants in early summer, autumn leaves in fall, and skiing in winter, making it a spot where nature and recreation can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons. The hiking course at Kisugedaira has 1,445 steps with an elevation gain of 240 meters to the Sky Corridor, which is a recommended viewing spot for those who are physically fit. Since the altitude is over 1,000 meters, the temperature differs from that of the plain by about 10 degrees Celsius, and as the name of the area suggests, there are many foggy days. Please be sure to bring a jacket when you visit.

Kirifuri Plateau in Nikko is a colony of Nikkoukisuge

Originally, Nikkoukisuge was called Zenteika (Zen garden flower), and Kirifuri Kogen is one of the most famous places in Japan for its colonies, along with Ozegahara and Kirigamine.
