Tsumagoi Village is famous for its cabbages.
Tsumakoi Village in Gunma Prefecture is famous for its summer and autumn cabbages, which account for about 50% of the national harvest and 90% of the production in Gunma Prefecture. Cabbages are grown in vast fields under favorable growing conditions, with temperature differences between day and night and abundant sunshine in the highlands at elevations of 700m to 1,400m.
Around the consecutive holidays in May, cabbage planting begins simultaneously in Tsumagoi Village, and the cabbage grows rapidly by absorbing plenty of water and nutrition during the rainy season.
The harvest peaks in summer, and the peak shipping season is from July through the end of October.
The Tsumagoi Panorama Line (also known as "Cabbage Road"), a wide-area farm road, has a northern route and a southern route, both of which offer spectacular views of patchwork greenery and Mount Asama from every angle. If you visit Tsumagoi Village, be sure to go through there.
