Hiking along the promenade

Departing from Kinugawa Onsen Station on the Kinugawa Line, a 15-minute ride along the Kinugawa River will bring you to Ryuoukyo Station, which has a somewhat unexplored atmosphere. As the name Ryuoukyo implies, the Kinugawa River is lined with many strange and powerful rocks and monstrous stones, and the flow of the Kinugawa River is always a sight to behold. It is said that 22 million years ago, volcanic rocks erupted from an underwater volcano and were eroded by the flow of the Kinugawa River, giving the area its present appearance. The name "Ryuoukyo" (Dragon King Gorge) was given to the river in 1950 because of its flow lines, which resemble the shape of a slouching dragon. The breathtaking scenery stretches about 3 km between Kinugawa Onsen and Kawaji Onsen. Please enjoy hiking while admiring the beautiful and powerful rock surfaces and the Kinugawa River's mountain stream.

Combination of fresh greenery, autumn leaves and waterfalls

The rugged rock surface is another attraction of Ryuoukyo!
