The final stage of Oku-Nikko trip!

To get to Lake Yunoko, it is a 90-minute bus trip from JR/Tobu Nikko via Iroha-zaka and Chuzenji-kohan, respectively. The area where Lake Yunoko is located is in the Oku-Nikko area, which is at a higher elevation than the city center, and is known as a summer resort due to its cool summer temperatures.

Lake Yunoko was formed when the Yugawa River was dammed by the eruption of Mitake (Mt. Mitake). There is a hiking course that takes about one hour around the lakeshore, and visitors can enjoy the pristine nature of the virgin virgin forest primeval forest of broad-leaved trees such as Japanese knotweed, giant camphor tree, and udai kamba, and coniferous trees such as kometsuga and Japanese white fir. On the northern shore of Lake Yunoko, Oku-Nikko Yumoto Onsen hot springs line the streets, emitting the scent of sulfur.

In addition to the relatively busy Kegon Falls and the shrines and temples of Nikko, be sure to visit the Oku-Nikko area with its wonderful unspoiled nature!
