Eating and walking in the old streets! Hida Beef Nigiri (rice ball)

Hida Takayama is famous for its Hida beef, which is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of gourmet foods you should eat when you visit Hida Takayama. There are many restaurants around the old streets that serve Hida beef cooked in various ways, but one of the most popular and reasonably priced is "Hida beef nigiri".

We would like to introduce "Hida Kotte Gyu", a restaurant specializing in Hida beef nigiri sushi that has a long line of customers!
The store is located in Kaminominocho. The shop is located in Kamisanomachi, the busiest area of the old Sanmachi Street where souvenir stores and cafes line the street.
Kote Gyu is one of the certified Hida beef restaurants by the Hida Beef Brand Promotion Council and uses the highest grade 5 rare parts of Hida beef. To bring out the true flavor of Hida beef, we use 100% Hida-grown Hitomebore rice and carefully select other ingredients such as a combination of bamboo charcoal salt from the Noto Peninsula and rock salt from Italy for salt.

At many Hida beef nigiri restaurants, the beef is served on a "senbei" (rice cracker) instead of a plate, making it easy to enjoy while strolling around. The hand-rolled rice crackers are crispy and tasty, and there is no waste after eating.
Two pieces of Toro Sashi Nigiri
The simple nigiri-zushi is delicious, but I personally recommend the toro-zashi nigiri. It is made from a particularly marbled part of the fish, and is so tender that it melts in your mouth as soon as you put it in. There are also other menu choices such as Gunkan and a special three-course meal.

In April 2019, our sister restaurant, "Kinno Kotte Gyu" also opened! Located in Kamiinomachi, about a 3-minute walk from Kottegyu, it also has a relaxing cafe space, so we recommend that when Kottegyu is crowded.
We recommend that you visit the café when Kottegyu is crowded!
