Wisteria of Ushijima, a national special natural monument, more than 1,200 years old

There is an old wisteria tree said to be more than 1,200 years old in the wisteria garden. It is the "Ushijima wisteria," which is designated as a special natural monument of Japan. The view during the peak season is so beautiful that it is praised as the best in the world and attracts visitors.

It is said to have been planted by Kobo Daishi.

The circumference of the base is 10 square meters, and the total area of the wisteria trellis is approximately 700 square meters. The longest flower clusters are 2 meters long, and the best time to see them is from late April to early May every year, when the beautiful purple wisteria flower clusters are hanging down.
