Yokohama Sanpo* Was there a phantom station? Abandoned railway tracks [Toyoko Flower Greenway
- Kanagawa
- Sightseeing

Did you know that there is a promenade surrounded by greenery just outside of Yokohama Station?

The history of the area can be seen everywhere along the Greenway, especially in the "Takashimayama Tunnel," which was used as a railroad tunnel. Today, many people walk through the tunnel as a promenade, but when the railroad was running, did it go around the mountain? It is interesting to walk along the path while thinking about such things. There used to be Kanagawa Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line in this area.
As it is called "Flower Greenway," it is a comfortable walking space with trees and flowerbeds. Depending on the time of year, you can see beautiful flowers. It is a nice place to take a leisurely stroll.

A phantom station existed?

As you walk along the greenway through the residential area, you will come to a large open plaza. There used to be a station here called Shintaicho until 1945. No buildings remain, but a monument has been erected nearby, indicating that the Tokyu Toyoko Line was connected to Sakuragi-cho Station. Many of you may have fresh memories of this place.
The greenway is an easy 1.4 km walk and the station is close by, so it is recommended as a short detour or stroll course on your way home. Why not visit when you come to Yokohama?
