Niigata Prefecture's Gotochi Katsudon (Western-style pork cutlet served on top of a bowl of rice)

There are two major local katsudon in Niigata Prefecture. One is tare-katsudon in Niigata City.
The other is "Western-style katsudon" in Nagaoka City.
Unlike regular katsudon, which is served in a bowl, katsudon is served on a flat plate with vegetables and eaten with a fork.
The crispy fried pork cutlet is tossed in a thick, sweet and sour ketchup-based sauce that makes the rice irresistible.
It is perfect for those who want a hearty, hearty meal.
In recent years, more and more restaurants are using demi-glace sauce instead of ketchup-based sauce.
This Western-style katsudon looks completely different from the katsudon you generally imagine.
