The Hokkaido Shinkansen line between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto (approx. 149 km) opened on March 26, 2016, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of its opening.
The Hokkaido Shinkansen arrives and departs from four stations: Shin-Aomori Station (Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture), Okutsugaru-Imabetsu Station (Imabetsu Town, Aomori Prefecture), Kikonai Station (Kikonai Town), and Shin-Hakodate Hokuto Station (Hokuto City), making the trip from Tokyo to Shin-Hakodate Hokuto the fastest in approximately 4 hours. (Some Shinkansen trains do not stop at some stations. Please check the timetable for details.)

The design of the Hokkaido Shinkansen expresses the uniqueness of Hokkaido with colors based on the motif of Hokkaido's flowers.

The design of the train is based on JR East's E5 Series. The upper part of the train is "Tokiwa Green," the same color as the E5 Series, with a "Ayaka Purple" line in the center, inspired by Hokkaido's lilac, lupine, lavender, and other flowers, while the lower part is a graceful white "Tobiun White.

Wood grain is used on some of the walls and ceilings, and the aisle floor covering is designed to resemble snowflakes. The window blinds are designed with patterns inspired by Jomon pottery, Ainu patterns, etc.
In addition to the standard carriages, Green Car and Grand Class are also available.
