If you are considering sightseeing in Iwaki or looking for a spot where you can enjoy local cuisine and leisure activities in Hamadori at the same time, this is a must-see!
Have you heard of "Iwaki La La Miu" located at Onahama Port, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture?" The catchphrase is "Iwaki all in one place! As the catchphrase suggests, this roadside station is packed with all the "delicious" and "fun" things to do in Iwaki. Nearby there is an aquarium and a park overlooking the sea, where you can enjoy the whole day. If you go further afield, you can also visit the Spa Resort Hawaiians and the Hakusui Amidado, a national treasure.
In this issue of JR East Travel Service Center, we will introduce you to some of the best places to eat and see in Iwaki La La Miu, as recommended by our staff.

Iwaki la la meu" is a roadside station where you can enjoy the port city of Iwaki to the fullest!

Iwaki La La Miu" reopened as a roadside station in September 2025.
Inside the building are seafood gourmet restaurants and souvenir stores, making it a very popular stopover spot for dining and sightseeing. It is well-loved by locals for its wide selection of fresh, locally produced foods. The open-air location overlooking the harbor is another attraction.
The restrooms are available 24 hours a day, which is also a nice feature. Service dogs and guide dogs are welcome.

Car: Approximately 7 minutes from the Iwaki Izumi IC on the Joban Expressway / Approximately 13 minutes from the Iwaki Onahama IC / Approximately 20 minutes from the Iwaki Yumoto IC
Public Transportation: From Izumi Station (limited express stop) on the JR Joban Line, take a local bus (bound for Onahama or Ena) to the nearest bus stop "AEON MALL Iwaki Onahama" (15 minutes). After getting off the bus, walk for about 5 minutes.
Parking: 430 cars (including 25 buses) available.

This is the place to go for a bite to eat! Fresh oysters and grilled sea urchin shells are excellent!

You can enjoy fresh seafood such as oysters and sea urchins, as well as flavorful, hot beach yaki and freshly made sweets on the spot! You can easily enjoy a "bite to eat," so be sure to visit various stores and find your favorite dish!

The freshly fried fish cakes available at Ichiguchichaya Manya have an irresistible aroma, and the karinto steamed buns, with the gentle sweetness of brown sugar and the crispy texture on the outside, are also popular.

Seafood BBQ or seafood rice bowl? Recommended Lunch 5!

The "Kaisen Ichiba Dori" on the first floor and the "Kaisen Gourmet Dori" on the first and second floors offer a variety of seafood dishes, including BBQ, where you can enjoy a hearty taste of seasonal seafood, as well as seafood rice bowls and nigiri-zushi, each with its own specialties. Enjoying the fresh local seafood, which changes with the seasons, is one of the best parts of traveling here. Here are five of the many restaurants we recommend!

A sightseeing boat and an indoor playground! Spots in the facility for both adults and children to enjoy!

Sightseeing Boat Sunshine Seagull

The "Sunshine Seagull," a sightseeing boat, allows visitors to experience interaction with seagulls on board and fully enjoy the Iwaki Sea. The waiting area has a piano and an introduction board for nearby sightseeing spots, so visitors can relax and enjoy the time before and after boarding the boat.

Wanpaku Hiroba Myu Myu

The indoor facility "Wanpaku Hiroba Myumyu" and the game corner "Miu Miu Land" are also recommended for families to play even on rainy days.
At "Wanpaku Hiroba Myumyu," children from 6-month-old infants to 12-year-olds can play with peace of mind (* accompanied by a parent or guardian). It is a great place for children to enjoy physical activities while sightseeing or shopping, and is available for a flat fee of 300 yen for adults and children (1 year old and up). Let's learn about the Great East Japan Earthquake at "Live Iwaki Mew Jiamu" on the 2nd floor!

In the "Live Iwaki Mew Museum" on the 2nd floor, there is a panel exhibition of the disaster situation at that time, a booth to reproduce life in an evacuation shelter, and a mini-theater, allowing visitors to learn about the trajectory from the earthquake to reconstruction through hands-on experience.
