The mysteriously named bridge "Kappa Bridge

- Experience Gifu
Kappa Bridge is the symbol of Kamikochi.
It takes about five minutes on foot from Kappa Bridge to Kamikochi Bus Terminal.
There are many restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops in the area.
The current Kappa-kyo Bridge is the fifth generation of the bridge, which was replaced in 1997. It is a wooden suspension bridge 36 meters long and 3 meters wide.
Kamikochi is famous for the view from Kappa-bashi Bridge, which offers an excellent vantage point from which one can see the majestic Hotaka mountain range, Gakusawa, the beautiful Azusa River, and Yakidake, which occasionally erupts in a plume of smoke when looking back.
The name "Kappa-bashi" is said to have come from a deep pool where kappa (water imps) might live, or from the fact that the people crossing the river wearing clothes looked like kappa (water imps).
It is a bridge of mystery as to when it was built and why it is called Kappa-bashi, but as a symbol of Kamikochi, it is a spot that cannot be missed.
