In this issue, we would like to recommend a must-try when you visit Morioka! Here are our recommendations for each noodle dish!
Wankosoba" born from the spirit of hospitality
Once you start eating, you will not be able to finish one bowl of soba, and then another, until you put the lid back on, so be careful! You can catch a glimpse of the kindness of Iwate Prefecture, which says, "We will entertain you until you are full." The number of bowls varies from store to store, but it is said that around 15 bowls are enough for a bowl of regular mori-soba.
Soba Restaurant "Azumaya" serves wanko soba and local cuisine.
*In principle, wanko soba is served in the order of arrival on the day of the event (no phone reservations required).
*The time required for wanko soba varies depending on the individual, but is approximately 30-45 minutes.
For local cuisine (soba zukuri course), reservations can be made up to one day in advance and orders of the same type can be placed with a minimum of 2 persons.

Morioka Cold Noodle" with its strong texture is addictive
The soup is seasoned with beef bones, chicken, and other ingredients. Morioka cold noodle is served with sour kimchi, boiled egg, pickled cucumber, and sweet fruits such as apple, watermelon, and pear depending on the season. It is also fun to compare the different ingredients at different restaurants.
Daidouen, a yakiniku and cold noodle restaurant featuring a thick soup
Daido-en's speciality of cold noodles is the soup! Many cold noodle soups are light and refreshing, but Daido-en's soup is concentrated from Sendai beef broth, beef bones, and chicken bones, so it is thick.... The noodles are firm yet firm, with a firm chew. The noodles are chewy and firm, and are mixed well with the broth!

Morioka Jaja-men" boasts of its meat miso
Also, the key is to leave a little bit of the noodles and garnish, instead of eating it all up. After the meal, order the delicious egg soup "chiitantang (thousand-year old egg soup)". You can further enjoy each restaurant's signature meat miso.
Hakuryu," a secret miso shop that has been persistently making miso
Hakuryu's jaja-men is based on the prewar shoyu noodles eaten in Manchuria and arranged to suit the tastes of the people of Morioka! It is characterized by its secret miso paste and sticky flat noodles, which are stir-fried and laid in a miso base with minced meat, sesame seeds, shiitake mushrooms, and more than a dozen other ingredients. The meat miso is so tasty that you can't help but follow it up with more miso..!
