Grandia Hosen, a ryokan located in Awara Onsen, Fukui Prefecture, has three dining venues where you can enjoy buffet, kaiseki, and shabu-shabu meals according to your budget and preference. This article reports on our experience of the "Adult's Finest Dinner Buffet" at Restaurant Ki-no-Kura!

First, appetizers!

An appetizer corner with a variety of small bowls. The titles of the dishes, such as "Wakasa Roast Beef" and "Half-boiled Egg with Caviar," are enough to make your eyes water! The vegetables are also served with the dish, making it look gorgeous.

I found a raw ham melon..! Although this is a buffet at a ryokan, Japanese food is the main course! The lineup was well-balanced with Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes.

Sushi and sashimi corner, where everyone lines up first!

The restaurant opened at 17:00 on this day. The official website says that the restaurant opens from 6:00 p.m., but on days when there are many reservations, the restaurant sometimes opens from 5:00 p.m. The first thing most people line up for after the restaurant opens is the "sushi" and "sashimi" corner! After all, when you come to Fukui, you want to eat seafood!
Saba Sushi
The mackerel sushi is covered with kelp! Did you know that Tsuruga City in Fukui Prefecture is responsible for over 80% of the nation's production of oboro kelp? The "saba-zushi" (mackerel and kelp) has an unbeatable flavor, and "nigiri-zushi" (hand-rolled sushi with eggs branded with Fukui salmon and dinosaurs) are also on the menu.

Don't miss the Toro sushi!

Toro sushi is also offered in limited quantities. The menu is limited to one piece per person. They made it in front of me and placed it on my plate!

I was impressed by its sweetness! This is what amaebi is all about...!

The all-you-can-eat amaebi is a pain to peel off the shell.... Muu, it's peeled~！！！！ I could eat as many as I want in this state...! (Are you sure?!?) The amaebi shrimp are also plump, round, and big!

Kampachi sashimi!

Sashimi that is too beautiful...! On top of the sashimi, there are vegetables cut out in the shape of dinosaurs such as Triceratops and Stegosaurus, which are very cute ♡!

A full menu of delicious fish!

Sashimi is not the only dish that uses fish! You can enjoy various kinds of fish, such as grilled fish and eel shitsumabushi, cooked in various ways.
This live cooking right in front of you is the best part! There were so many dishes that I couldn't hold them all, and I kept going back and forth between the table and the dishes lined up, but since it is buffet style where you can taste the freshly prepared dishes, it would have been better to settle down (lol) and always bring the hot freshly prepared dishes while eating little by little so that you can enjoy them to the fullest! It might have been better to enjoy the food to the fullest...!

After about 4 round trips, we finally got seated!
The blue specks next to the shrimp are shrimp roe! It is best eaten with soy sauce, so please try it...!

The meat is so tender and delicious...!

No more "one third fat" as is often the case with all-you-can-eat steaks! It's not fatty but tender, and the flavor spreads when you bite into it... This is the potential of Wakasa beef! The grilling condition is also excellent...! The author's vocabulary is too limited, and it's frustrating that all I can say is "the best" since a while ago.... But look at this........the grilling quality is "excellent"......isn't it?

All the alcohol you can drink!

Beer, of course, as well as local sake and wine are all-you-can-drink! The proprietresses of the inns in Awara Onsen are certified sake connoisseurs, and the sake they make, "Onna", is a brand that can only be drunk in Awara... ♪ It is also sold at the store on the first floor, so you can buy it as a souvenir. It is also sold at the shop on the first floor, so be sure to pick some up as a souvenir!

A handsome dessert!

I can't eat it! I can't eat it! Just when you think you can't eat any more, it's "dessert time". Colorful and cute desserts such as fruits, cakes, and macaroons. And the ice cream was all-you-can-eat Häagen-Dazs! I was too happy~!

Don't forget the fresh squeezed juice!

The fresh-squeezed juice is limited to one per person, with a choice of either grapefruit or orange! The fresh and sweet fresh-squeezed juice is perfect as an after-dinner dessert.
