Higashizawa Rose Park is located in Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture, and boasts more than 20,000 roses of about 750 varieties. In June and September, when the roses are in full bloom, a "Rose Festival" is held, where visitors can enjoy not only the roses in full bloom, but also workshops related to flowers and sweets made from roses.

Recognized as one of the "100 best fragrance sceneries! Higashisawa Rose Park

Higashisawa Rose Park, which covers an area of about 7 hectares, is home to more than 20,000 roses of about 750 varieties from around the world. The characteristic of roses in Higashisawa Rose Park is "fragrance. When in full bloom, the park is filled with the sweet fragrance of roses, and was recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as one of the 100 most fragrant sceneries in Japan. It is the only one of its kind among rose gardens in Japan. The "100 Scenery of Fragrance" is a list of 100 sceneries selected by experts in fragrance and smell, culture, and lifestyle. The 100 sceneries selected include those related to natural scents such as flowers, trees, sea breeze, hot springs, and fruits, as well as traditional crafts and local specialties such as sumi ink, incense, and tea.

In the Higashisawa Rose Park, there is a "Fragrant Rose Area" where fragrant roses are collected, and visitors can enjoy seven different fragrances. In addition to Murayama City's original roses, visitors can also stroll through an area featuring roses related to the royal family.
Every year in June and September, when the roses are at their best, a "Rose Festival" is held. In addition to strolling through the rose garden in full bloom, various workshops and events related to roses are held.

Rose sweets" you can enjoy at Higashisawa Rose Park

There is a lodge house "Rose Exchange Center" in the garden, and a coffee shop and exhibition room on the second floor. The coffee shop sells sweets made from roses and a variety of rose goods. The terrace offers a panoramic view of the park. It is a good place to take a break after a stroll.

The most popular sweet at the Rose Exchange Center is "rose soft serve" using roses! This soft serve ice cream has the aroma of roses. You can also enjoy other rose sweets such as "rose parfait" (rose soft serve with petals on top), "rose ice cream" and "rose float".
