In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the city's incorporation, the Chofu City Tourist Association has published an informative booklet, "Chofu Viva! Bravo! This booklet is entitled "Chofu, I like Chofu! Fun! and contains plenty of tips for enjoying Chofu, including information on recommended sightseeing spots in the city, model courses for strolling around the city, and locally loved restaurants and gourmet food. Bravo! Bravo!" in hand, enjoy walking around Chofu, have fun, and taste delicious food and drinks.

Jindaiji Temple and Jindai Botanical Park

Blessed with abundant greenery and spring water, Jindaiji Temple stands in a corner of the city that retains a strong Musashino landscape. Known as one of the oldest temples in the Kanto region, it is said to have been founded in the Nara period (710-794) by Jinko Shonin, and houses valuable temple treasures such as the Hakuho Buddha (Shaka Nyorai statue), which was designated a national treasure in 2017, and the temple bell, an important cultural property of Japan. The abundant spring water in the area has brought about the belief in a water god in the hearts of the people, and the name Jindaiji derives from the water god, Jinsa Daioh. In front of the temple gate, there are many teahouses where worshippers can relax, as well as the famous Jindaiji soba noodle stores.
In the adjacent Jindai Botanical Park, visitors can enjoy the beauty of plants and flowers throughout the four seasons. Currently, approximately 4,800 varieties and 100,000 trees and plants are planted. The park is divided into 30 blocks by plant type, including a rose garden, an azalea garden, a plum garden, and a holly garden, so that visitors can gain knowledge of plants while admiring the scenery. In May 2016, the large greenhouse was renovated and reopened, with a collection of rare tropical plants and colorful flowers for visitors to enjoy. The park is now open to the public.
