Jodogahama Beach in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, is one of the most scenic spots in the Tohoku region, and is said to be named for its beauty, which resembles the Pure Land of Paradise. Located about 20 minutes by bus from Miyako Station on the JR Yamada Line and Sanriku Railway, Jodogahama is one of the most scenic spots in the Tohoku region, and is situated within the Sanriku Fukko National Park. The white rocks of various sizes made of rhyolite and the calm blue sea were created by magma activity and wave erosion tens of millions of years ago, and the name "Jodogahama" is said to derive from its unreal, paradise-like beauty.

The Blue Cave, which can only be reached by sapa boat

The Hachinohe Hole, located behind the sightseeing boat terminal, is also called the "Blue Cave" because the sunlight pouring in from the hole's entrance makes the seawater glow blue. This mysterious phenomenon occurs only inside the Blue Cave, which has a very narrow entrance and cannot be entered by sightseeing boats. Those who wish to view the powerful rocks and mysterious scenery should board a sappa boat (a small boat used by local fishermen) operated by the Jodogahama Marine House.
