Himi Fishing Port boasts the largest catch of fish in Toyama Bay. The Himi Fish Market Shokudo, located on the second floor of the port, offers a menu featuring fresh fish!

I arrived there around 10:00 a.m. for an early lunch, expecting it to be crowded at lunch time on weekends, but there was already a long line of customers. There were many cars with out-of-prefecture license plates in the parking lot. We signed our names on the waiting board in front of the restaurant and waited for a while, but we didn't mind the wait because we could look down on the market from the second floor and see it from there. The fish cases lined up right below the market are very impressive, and if you come early in the morning, you can see the auction going on.
Auction starts around 6:00 am.

The most popular menu item at the fish market cafeteria is the "Himi Hama-don. You can choose from three different serving styles: Chokkoshi-mori (small), Yawa-yawa-mori (medium), and Hansa-mori (large).

And especially recommended is the special menu available only during the cold yellowtail season from late November to February!
The first dish we chose was the "Himi Buri-don," which is served like a flower petal. This alone is a very satisfying portion. However, unable to resist, we also ordered sashimi and buri shabu (yellowtail shabu) separately. The beauty of fatty yellowtail at this time of the year is exceptional! The fatty yellowtail melting in your mouth is irresistible.
The fish looked like beautiful pink petals and tasted and looked great!
Sashimi that I ordered additionally!

Moreover, when you order a bowl of rice or a set meal at this restaurant, an earthenware pot of fisherman's soup is served with it. This gently seasoned soup is perfect for the cold season, with a nice broth that warms you from the inside out.
If you come to the area, be sure to try the seafood unique to Himi.
This earthenware pot is enough fisherman's soup for two people!
