Harvesting and Dairy Farming Experience for Children and Adults

Tateyama City is located in the southern part of Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture. In Tateyama, there are not only marine activities, but also many other experiences that can be enjoyed by both children and adults, such as vegetable harvesting and dairy farming.

Year-round] Harvest Experience @Anzai Farm

Anzai Farm has been in operation for six generations in Tateyama City at the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula. Here, more than 50 different crops are grown throughout the year. The vegetables and grains are grown slowly, using as little pesticides and chemical fertilizers as possible. Anzai Farm offers a wide range of programs, including harvesting and farming experiences, field trips for elementary, junior high, and high school students, and training for new employees of companies that incorporate agriculture into their operations.

At Anzai Farm, visitors can experience harvesting soybeans, corn, peanuts, lettuce, rape, and summer vegetables (eggplant, bell peppers, zucchini, okra, etc.) throughout the year.

Year-round] Dairy Farming Experience @ Sudo Farm

Sudo Farm has a history of about 100 years since its establishment in Chiba Prefecture, the birthplace of dairy farming in Japan. In 2024, Sudo Farm was awarded the Chiba Gastronomy AWARD in the producer category. Currently, the fourth generation, Kenta Sudo, runs the farm where cows live freely in "pasture" and "freestall" barns, which are rare in Japan, and is engaged in a wide range of businesses including not only raw milk production but also dairy product processing operations and dairy farming experience programs. The Sudo Ranch is not only engaged in raw milk production, but also in a wide range of other businesses such as dairy product processing and dairy farm experience.

Sudo Farm offers three types of experiences for the general public.

1) For adults (5th grade and up)...Farm experience (feeding rice, walking around the farm, drinking milk)
2) Limited to 5 people per group (evening)...Farm work observation + calf care experience + drinking milk
3) For children (*4th grade and under) and pre-school families ...Feeding experience + calf barn tour + milk drinking contest
