Kurobe Gorge is the deepest V-shaped gorge in Japan!

Kurobe Gorge" in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture is located in "Chubu-Sangaku National Park" and is said to be the deepest V-shaped gorge in Japan. The "Kurobe Gorge Trolley Car" is indispensable to enjoy the magnificent Kurobe Gorge to the fullest! The train runs from Unazuki Station to Zelkova Station, a distance of about 20 km, at an average speed of 16 km/h, and takes about 80 minutes each way. The oldest train was built in 1923 and is the longest, longest, lightest, and smallest in capacity among privately operated passenger railroads in Japan!

The Noto Peninsula Earthquake of 2024 damaged the Kanetsuri Bridge along the line, and the entire line will not be open for the 2025 season, so the line will be operated with a turnaround between Unazuki and Nekomata Stations.

The Hokuriku editorial department recommends the "standard passenger car! These carriages have no windows, so you can enjoy the realistic feeling of running through the great nature.

The coach with windows is the "Relaxing Coach" (extra charge applies). Seats are in single rows of three (2 seats + 1 seat), and the backrests can be shifted toward the direction of travel, and the windows can be opened or closed.

Do you sit on the right side or the left side in the carriages?

There are no reserved seats on the Kurobe Gorge trolley car. Please be assured that you will always be seated as only the number of seats are sold. You can sit in any seat you like in the carriages, but the best spots to see from the windows are concentrated on the right side of the train, so you will enjoy the scenery more if you sit on the right side of the train in the direction of travel.
