Recreation of old nature on the rooftop of a building
It is about a 9-minute walk along the main street from the East Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station. When you go up to the 10th floor of the building where the ward office is located, you will find a lush green space.
This is the "Toshima Forest" maintained by Toshima Ward. It is a rooftop garden that recreates the nature of the Toshima Ward area in the past, where visitors can relax while learning about the vegetation and ecology.
The garden is filled with so many trees, a stream running between the trees, and a biotope and water tank where visitors can observe living creatures and plants, it is hard to believe that this is the rooftop of a building.

Learning and enjoying nature and living creatures
At the time of the photo shoot, the species seen in the current Arakawa River system included the kokubuna, kawamutu, and oikawa.
Teshima Forest also plans to use these facilities to hold environmental education programs for children on a regular basis, such as the "Teshima Forest" environmental lectures.

Take a breather surrounded by greenery
And because it is a rooftop garden, you can also enjoy the view of the surrounding cityscape from the garden. The view of the buildings of Shinjuku and the Tokyo Sky Tree is pleasant and airy.

Toshima Eco-musee Town" where the entire building is in harmony with nature
The Toshima Ward Office building, where the "Toshima Forest" is located, is integrated with a high-rise apartment building and named "Toshima Eco-musee Town. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the concept of the building is the coexistence of nature and buildings.
Not only the "Teshima Forest," but the entire building is a space where visitors can spend time in close contact with nature.

Enjoy a peaceful moment away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
