Hossawa Falls
Hossawa Falls is located in Hinohara-mura Village, Tokyo. Hinohara Village is the only village in Tokyo, except for the island areas, that is rich in nature and famous for its potatoes and konnyaku, etc. There are so many waterfalls in the village that a "waterfall tour" to see several waterfalls has become a standard sightseeing activity. Among them, Hossawa Falls is the only one in Tokyo selected as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls in Japan" and can be easily explored on a day trip!

The Itsukaichi Line will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025.

The Itsukaichi Line, which terminates at JR Musashi Itsukaichi Station, the nearest station to Hossawa Falls, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025! You can feel the history of the station from the station sign; in 2016, the station building was renovated with a warm atmosphere using wood from Tama, and there is also a stylish stained glass window on the platform. To reach Hossawa Falls, take the bus from the bus stop located just outside the south exit of Musashi Itsukaichi Station!

After getting off the bus, follow the "Hossawa Falls" sign to the falls.

Once at the bus stop at the entrance to Hossawa Falls, head for the Hossawa Falls parking lot and walk toward the falls, following the "Hossawa Falls" sign. There are several signs for Hossawa Falls, and the path to the falls is a straight one, so first-time visitors will not get lost. Along the way, there is a gallery cafe, a woodworking supply store, and other facilities that you may want to stop by.

The promenade is well-maintained and even beginners can feel safe!

The path leading to Hossawa Falls has a well-maintained boardwalk, making it easy to walk, and is recommended for those who normally do not get much exercise. The boardwalk is made of wood chips from Hinohara Village, and the fluffy feeling of walking along it is very addictive. There is also a waterside on the path leading to Hossawa Falls where you can feel the cool air nearby, so you may want to take a break along the way to feel the magnificent nature of Hinohara Village. After a 15-minute walk from the bus stop, you will finally see Hossawa Falls!

The power of the waterfall is full of power! Arrival at Hossawa Falls!

Hossawa Falls is a four-tiered waterfall with a drop of about 60 meters. What we see when we visit Hossawa Falls is "Ichinotaki", the lowest of the four tiers of waterfalls. Its drop is about 26.4 meters, and when you get close, you can feel the spray and wind as the water cascades down. It is so mysterious that there is a legend that a giant snake lives in the deep basin of the waterfall. Harezawa Falls got its name from the fact that it looks like a hossu used by monks hanging down from the water. Please experience the power and beauty of Hossawa Falls on site!

Hossawa Falls changes its appearance depending on the season.

One of the attractions of Hossawa Falls is that you can feel the power and coolness of the falls when you get close, but that is not the only attraction of Hossawa Falls! Hossawa Falls shows various appearances depending on the season. The Hossawa Falls are illuminated during the annual Hossawa Falls Furusato Summer Festival, and on cold winter days, the falls freeze over and become an icefall. Please enjoy the seasonal changes of Hossawa Falls that will make you want to visit again and again.

The path to the falls and the area near the basin can be slippery, so please wear comfortable clothing.
