Koiwai Farm
Established in 1891, Koiwai Farm is one of the largest private integrated farms in Japan. Spread over a magnificent expanse of land overlooking Mt. Iwate, the farm boasts a history of more than 130 years. At Koiwai Farms, visitors can enjoy the great outdoors, meet the animals, take guided tours, and enjoy meals and souvenirs made with ingredients produced at Koiwai Farms! There are also many seasonal events for children and adults to experience. Here are some of the attractions of Koiwai Farms that you should visit at least once.

Origin of Koiwai Farm

The name Koiwai Farms was taken from the surnames of its founders, Yoshimasa Ono, Yanosuke Iwasaki, and Masaru Inoue. 1891 saw the beginning of the farm as a wasteland, and today it is a popular tourist destination where visitors can enjoy nature and a pastoral atmosphere.

Activities you can experience at Koiwai Farm

At Makibaen, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as walking tours in the forest on tractor carriages and athletic activities, as well as experience interacting with animals and relaxing in the midst of nature. Families, couples, and friends can enjoy these activities according to their purposes. Events, available facilities, and recommended courses change depending on the season. Introducing recommended spots in Koiwai Farm Makiba Park

Let's go to Kamimaru Cowshed and see cows up close!

The Kaminaru Cowshed adjacent to Koiwai Farm Makibaen is dotted with buildings such as cowsheds, warehouses, and brick silos, nine of which are designated as national important cultural properties. About 300 mother cows and calves live in the Kaminaru Cowshed, and in the early hours of the morning, you can see them relaxing outside the cowshed.

Take a leisurely sheep trail route!

If you go in the opposite direction from the Kaminaru Cowshed, to the right of the entrance, you can enjoy a relaxing walk while watching the sheep. The walk takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Please take your time and be healed by the cuteness of the sheep. For those who love sheep, a sheep house has been built in the playground, where you can also observe sheep up close.

Horse riding

Horse riding is also recommended. You will be surprised at how high you feel when you get on the back of the horse! The horses are pulled along by a staff member, so even first-time riders can enjoy the experience. Children can try riding a cute pony.
You can also try feeding the horses by giving them carrots as food.

The menu is rich in Koiwai Farm ingredients such as halloumi cheese, sausages, and grilled vegetables.
