Shiroyama Park (Wakuya Castle Ruin) is one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Wakuya Town, Miyagi Prefecture.
In addition to Shiroyama Park, there is a magnificent 120-year-old weeping cherry tree near the stone steps leading up to the castle, and a row of 80-year-old Someiyoshino cherry trees on the left bank of the Eagogawa River that cover the road.
During the cherry blossom festival, the cherry trees are lit up at night to create a fantastic night view, making the area a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in northern Miyagi Prefecture that attracts many visitors day and night.

Here are the highlights! The 75th Tohoku Cart Horse Racing Competition
Under such circumstances, the "cart horse" competition is held for the purpose of competing in the strength of white horses. The contestants pull sleds carrying different loads for different classes, and compete in the time required to cross two obstacles on a 120-meter straight course. Under the cherry blossoms in full bloom, the crowd cheers on the horses as they compete in a heated battle. In particular, the moment when the horses and riders cross the obstacles in unison, the crowd cheers and applauds loudly.
The competition is held on the third Sunday of April every year on the banks of the Eagogawa River in Shiroyama Park as the main event of the Cherry Blossom Festival.
