The Ashikaga Flower Park Fuji-no-Hana Monogatari (Large Wisteria Festival 2025) will be held from April 12 (Sat.) to May 18 (Sun.). (*Please note that the period and hours of operation are subject to change depending on blooming conditions.)
Ashikaga Flower Park was selected as one of the 10 dream destinations in the world by CNN in 2014. Why not visit Ashikaga Flower Park when the wisteria is at its best?

More than 350 wisteria trees will be in full bloom at Ashikaga Flower Park, including "Ohfuji," a wisteria trellis with a 600-tatami mat area.

Ashikaga Flower Park opened in 1968 as "Hayakawa Noen" in Horigome-cho (now Asakura-cho), Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture. In 1997, due to urban development, the park was relocated to its current location in Hasama-cho, Ashikaga City, and reopened as Ashikaga Flower Park. Since the park was relocated to a former wetland area, over 250 tons of charcoal was spread throughout the park to purify the soil, increase vitality, and revitalize all life forms. The park has been expanded and improved, and now covers an area of 100,000 square meters.

The park's symbolic giant wisteria was transplanted by Ms. Konami Tsukamoto, the first female arborist in Japan. The transplantation of a giant wisteria (130 years old at the time) was unprecedented, and the project attracted nationwide attention as a transplanting project that transcended common sense, becoming the first successful example in Japan.

The four large wisteria trees (three Noda kujaku wisteria and one double black dragon wisteria) and the 80-meter-long white wisteria tunnel are designated as natural treasures by Tochigi Prefecture, and the "Fujinohana Monogatari - Large Wisteria Festival" is held from mid-April to mid-May, when they are at their best. The "Flower Garden of Light" illumination, which will be held from late October, has been selected as one of the three most popular illuminations in Japan by the Night View Convention Bureau, and was ranked first in Japan in the illumination rankings chosen by night view tourists nationwide. The park is decorated with numerous flowers from season to season, attracting many visitors not only from Japan but also from overseas.
