Aquamarine Fukushima "Tide Sea" Triangular Tunnel
Aquamarine Fukushima is one of the largest interactive aquariums in the Tohoku region, located in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. About 800 species of living creatures are on display based on the theme of the "tidal zone" off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture facing the Pacific Ocean. It is equipped with a variety of facilities, including hands-on programs such as fishing and backyard tours, and an outdoor beach where visitors can enter the water and observe the creatures.

Nearby is Spa Resort Hawaiians, famous for its Hawaiian dancing and large swimming pool, making it a sightseeing spot that can be enjoyed twice in one visit to Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. In this issue, we will introduce the attractions of Aquamarine Fukushima, which can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

Inside the aquarium, which sparkles like a jewel, is a paradise for living creatures.

The main building of Aquamarine Fukushima is a dome structure with a glass roof. One of the reasons for the name "Aquamarine Fukushima" is that its sparkling appearance in the sunlight evokes the image of the gemstone aquamarine. The facility is characterized by the active use of natural light and other elements to recreate an environment that is as close to nature as possible. Inside the facility, there are exhibits themed on Fukushima's nature, such as "The Sea of Tides," "The Sea of Fukushima: The Road to the Continental Shelf," and "Fukushima's Rivers and Coasts," which are all attractions that visitors to the aquarium in Fukushima will find fascinating. The time required is about 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours. If you participate in the experience program, you can fully enjoy yourself in the facility for more than 3 hours.

Inside the triangular tunnel, you will feel as if you are in the sea.

The two tanks (Kuroshio Tank and Oyashio Tank), which symbolize "the ocean of tides," hold 2,050 tons of water! In the Kuroshio Tank, the largest tank in Aquamarine Fukushima, fish from the open sea such as Japanese pilchards, bonito, and tuna swim powerfully. On the other hand, if you take a closer look at the Oyashio Tank, you will see creatures lurking motionless behind rocks, seaweed, rocks, and on the bottom. Please enjoy the difference between the two tanks.

Fukushima's Rivers and Coasts," which focuses on the creatures that inhabit the rivers and coasts of Fukushima Prefecture

Another exhibit that is possible only because the aquarium is located in Fukushima Prefecture is "Fukushima's Rivers and Coasts. This exhibit focuses on the creatures that live in the rivers and coastal areas of Fukushima Prefecture and displays them with plants in an environment with natural light. The exhibits are displayed in a variety of situations, from the upper and middle reaches of rivers, wetlands, streams, springs, ponds and marshes, estuaries, and the coast, and each is characterized by its own unique features.
