Three recommended cherry blossom viewing spots in Niigata City♪
There are several places famous for cherry blossoms in Niigata City, the center of Niigata Prefecture. We will introduce three of them: "Shinanogawa Yasuragi Tsutsumi-Ryokuchi," which is easily accessible by bus from Niigata Station; "Hakusan Shrine, Hakusan Park and Hanging Garden," which is crowded with spring festivals and cherry blossoms; and "Toriyano Lagoon," where cherry trees around a lake are in full bloom.
Shinanogawa Yasuragi-tsutsumi-ryokuchi (Shinanogawa River Yasuragi-tsutsumi-ryokuchi) - Cherry blossoms and tulips in full bloom along the Shinanogawa River
The Shinano River Yasuragi-tsutsumi is a gently sloping embankment, and someiyoshino cherry trees and tulips bloom beautifully in the green area that has been developed together with the Shinano River!
You can also view the cherry blossoms along the riverbank from the Shinanogawa Water Shuttle, a water bus that operates along the Shinanogawa River.

Location: From Ichibanbori-dori-machi to Kawagishi-machi 1-chome, Chuo-ku, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture
Access: Take the Niigata Kotsu Bus from Niigata Station, get off at "Shiyakusho-mae" or "Hakusan Koen-mae" and walk 5 minutes.
Approximately 15 minutes on foot from Hakusan Station on the JR Echigo Line.

Cherry blossoms at Hakusan Shrine and Hakusan Park and Hanging Garden in Niigata
Hakusan-sama has the power to "tie the knot" and is blessed with such benefits as "match-making," "family safety," and "increased financial fortune.
The Hakusan-sama Spring Festival, held from April 12 to 18, coincides with the cherry blossom season and attracts many visitors to pray and view the cherry blossoms. Many stalls, including Niigata's specialty poppoyaki, will be set up. The area from Hakusan Shrine to Hakusan Park, including the area around Kenmin Kaikan and Ryutopia, and Yasuragi Tsutsumi is known as one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Niigata City, and the cherry blossoms in full bloom are breathtakingly beautiful.

Cherry blossoms at Toriyano Lagoon - Cherry blossoms are reflected on the surface of the water in spring
The Meike area, where the Niigata Prefectural Library and the Nature Science Museum are located, and the Kanegi area, where the Niigata City Industrial Promotion Center is located, are ideal for cherry blossom viewing, as many Someiyoshino cherry trees are planted there. Approximately 2,000 cherry trees will be in full bloom around the Toryano Lagoon, and bonbori (paper lanterns) will be lit on the cherry trees around Benten Bridge. There are also restaurants along the lakeside where visitors can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms while dining.

Let's go out to Niigata Prefecture Toriyano Lagoon Park!
In the "Kanegi Area," yaezakura cherry trees bloom when someiyoshino cherry trees finish blooming, allowing visitors to enjoy cherry blossom viewing a second time. As you proceed inside, you will find the "Hanami Plaza," an area where you can spread out your lunch box and enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms. There is also a "Japanese Garden" where you can enjoy the seasonal scenery, a plaza, and various other facilities.
There are many things to see at Toriyanogata Park, where you can enjoy hanami from two different areas♪
