Start from Nagano Electric Railway Yudanaka Station

The journey begins at Yudanaka Station, the terminal station of Nagano Electric Railway. It takes about one hour from Nagano Station to get there by Nagano Electric Railway. Before departure, we recommend that you stop by "Ekinaka Yamanouchi" next to the station ticket gate to buy a drink! In addition to drinks, products produced in the town such as "onsen manju (hot spring buns)," "soba cookies," and "honey" are also popular.

It takes about 20 minutes by car from Yudanaka Station. First, try your hand at making soba (buckwheat noodles), a local delicacy of Yamanouchi Town! Sukagawa soba is characterized by the use of fibers from the leaves of "Oyamabokuchi," a perennial plant of the Asteraceae family, as the binder, instead of eggs or wheat flour. These are harvested in the local Sukagawa area.

The buckwheat noodles made with Oyamabokuchi have a very different taste and texture! The taste and the experience of making your own buckwheat noodles will definitely be a memorable one!

Ancient cherry blossoms in Uki

In the Uki district, about a 15-minute drive from the Sukagawa district, famous and old trees called "Uki's ancient cherry trees," which are several hundred years old, announce the arrival of spring with their pale white and pink colors. Among them, the Edohigan-zakura (Chitose-zakura) cherry trees are registered as a natural monument of the prefecture. There is a walking course, but this time, please take your time to enjoy the cherry blossoms a little later in the season while traveling by car.

Roadside Station Kita-Shinshu Yamanouchi

Take a short break here. Stop by "Roadside Station Kita-Shinshu Yamanouchi," a 10-minute drive from the Uki district. You can take your time to select souvenirs and buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the town. â™" You can eat the food you purchased at the roadside station directly inside the building, but if the weather is nice, try eating outside on the terrace while enjoying the rich natural scenery!
