Owara Kaze no Bon Festival

The "Owara Kaze no Bon Festival" is one of the most popular folk song events in Japan. Every year from September 1 to 3, the town is lit up with dim lights from the Bonbori lanterns, and dancers in matching happi coats or yukata and braided hats dance to the accompaniment of shamisen and kokyu (Japanese violin) as they float through the town.
September 1, when the Owara Kaze no Bon Festival is held, has been regarded as a bad day because it coincides with the arrival of typhoons. It is said that the name "Kaze no Bon Festival" was given to the event to pray for the prevention of wind disasters.

The Etchu Yatsuo area, where the Owara Kaze no Bon Festival takes place, is about 25 minutes from Toyama Station on the JR Takayamamoto Line. Among them, the emotional Suwa-machi main street is about an 8-minute drive from "Ecchu Yatsuo Station." Lined with buildings featuring traditional roof tiles, lattice doors, and white walls, it has been selected as one of the "100 best roads in Japan," and is a recommended spot even outside of the festival period!
