Autumn leaves over the Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge
Hananuki Gorge in Takahagi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a scenic spot famous for its autumn leaves. The view from the Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge over Hananuki Gorge is especially beautiful. In autumn, the branches of the trees growing along the river protrude from both sides, allowing visitors to enjoy the gorgeous autumn leaves as well as the clear waters of the Hananuki River and Shiomitaki Fall. Why don't you visit Hananuki Valley this fall to see the spectacular autumn scenery?

Hananuki Valley designated as a nature park

Hananuki Gorge is a ravine along the Hananuki River. Together with Hanazono Valley in Kitaibaraki City, Ibaraki Prefecture, it is designated as Hanazono/Hananuki Prefectural Natural Park. The valley is full of attractions such as Shiomidaki Suspension Bridge, Fudodaki Waterfall, and the mysterious legend of Namegari Fuchi. You can enjoy the fresh greenery in spring, the changing leaves in fall, and the snowy landscape in winter, and at Hananuki Valley, you can enjoy the changing natural scenery as the seasons unfold.

Hananuki Valley's recommended spots "Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge" and "Fudodaki Waterfall

In autumn, the surrounding trees turn beautiful autumn colors such as red and orange. The best place to view the autumn colors in Hananuki Valley is from the Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge, which spans 60 meters over the mountain stream. The view from the Shiomidaki Suspension Bridge is especially beautiful, and you can feel the flow of the mountain stream and waterfalls. The contrast between the Shiomitaki Waterfall, the Hananuki River flowing through the pool, and the surrounding autumn leaves is picturesque and beautiful no matter where you cut it off.

The vivid autumn colors of the valley on the way to the Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge are also a must-see. I especially recommend Fudodaki Waterfall. At the back of the Hananuki parking lot, there is a path leading to Otome Falls and Fudo Falls. The upper reaches of the Hananuki River on the right side of the signboard are Otome Falls and the lower reaches on the left side are Fudo Falls. Fudodaki Fall is said to be a power spot, with a solemn atmosphere in the deep, quiet forest. In summer, fresh greenery grows thickly and the water and air flowing down the Hananuki River are clear, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere with negative ions perfect for summer, and in autumn, visitors can enjoy the autumn leaves and the waterfall at the same time. It is also recommended to take pictures with the flow of the waterfall and the autumn leaves.
