Autumn, with its pleasant weather, will soon arrive! In this issue, we will introduce three places in the Miyagi/Sendai area where you can enjoy the autumn foliage lighting up, which is a seasonal tradition. We hope that you will spend a rich autumn evening at these three locations, where you can fully enjoy the colorful autumn leaves.

Zuihouden (in Sendai)

Zuihouden is the mausoleum of Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai domain. There are also the mausoleums of the second Lord Tadamune and the third Lord Amimune in the precincts of the temple. In autumn, the collaboration of the colorful maple trees and the elegant Momoyama-style architecture is very attractive.

The "Zuihouden Autumn Foliage Tour and Lighting Up" is scheduled to be held from November 15 (Sat.) to November 30 (Sun.), 2025. On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays during this period, the opening hours will be extended to 19:00 (last admission 18:30).

Passing through the approach decorated with lanterns with family crests, visitors will enter a fantastic world beyond.

Entonji Temple (in the suburbs of Sendai)

Entsuji Temple, the family temple of Date Mitsumune, grandson of Date Masamune, feudal lord of Sendai, is located in Matsushima, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan near Sendai. The garden at Entsuji, said to be one of the best gardens in Matsushima, offers a variety of atmospheres throughout the four seasons. The autumn foliage season, when the scenery looks like a painting, is especially recommended.

During the special nighttime viewing, you can enjoy the fantastic and beautiful sight of the grounds lit up. The karesansui (dry landscape garden) has a different atmosphere than during the daytime and soothes both body and soul.

The autumn leaves illuminated by the gentle light are elegant, and the surface of the pond reflects the leaves like a mirror. You can immerse yourself in a breathtakingly beautiful world both day and night.
The "Entsuji Temple Autumn Leaves Light-up 2025" is scheduled to be held from October 25 (Sat) to November 24 (Mon), 2025.

Akiurumina (Sendai Akiu area)

The light and art festival "Akiu lumina - akiu lumina - Hikari no mori 2025" is a collaborative event in the Sendai Akiu area, which will be held in conjunction with the autumn foliage season. The event will be held from Friday, October 24 to Monday, November 24, 2025.
During the event, "Leidakyo Maple Trail Lighting" will be held at Leidakyo Gorge, a major tourist attraction in Akiu, attracting many visitors every year. This event is scheduled to be held from November 1 (Sat) to November 24 (Mon), 2025.

The "Tenshukaku Nature Park Akiu Night Museum," a Japanese garden composed of Akiu stones and illuminated with autumn leaves, will create a Japanese beauty. The event is scheduled to run from Friday, October 24 to Monday, November 24, 2025.

Other colorful lights will illuminate the night in Akiu, including "Akiu no Mori: Sasaki Museum of Art & Ningyokan Night Museum Projection Mapping. In addition, a stamp rally "Lumina de Pon! will be held and visitors will be able to tour around the forest of lights in Akiu!
