Amahare Beach and the Tateyama Mountain Range
Amaharashi Coast is a scenic area of white sand and green pine trees with many rocky reefs, and has been selected as one of the 100 best beaches in Japan. On a clear day, the Tateyama Mountain range, which rises to a height of 3,000 meters, can be seen over Toyama Bay. The view is breathtaking and beautiful.... It is truly a spectacular view!
Yoshitsune Rock
It is said that Otomo no Iemochi, a poet in the Manyo period (710-794), loved the scenery of Ameharu so much that he composed many poems about it. Also, there is Yoshitsune Iwa (Yoshitsune Rock), where Minamoto no Yoshitsune waited for the rain to clear on his way to Oshu, which is the origin of the name "Ameharu" of the area. This is one of the places that Yoshitsune fans should visit.
Amaharashi Coast and sunrise
If you get up early, you may be able to see such a spectacular view... The best place to view the beautiful scenery is "Michi no Eki Ameharu" (Roadside Station) located across the road from the beach. From the observation decks on the second and third floors, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the faraway landscape of the Ameharu Coast. There is also a café where you can relax. Please stop by when staying in Takaoka City or Himi Onsen!
