This is a traditional event that has been passed down for about 300 years. Thousands of paper lanterns are lit along the streets of the hillside town, and men and women wearing woven hats deeply covered dance emotionally to the melancholy sounds of kokyu bows, shamisen, and Etchu Owara-bushi singing.
