Furthermore, the classic style features a runny, sunny-side-up egg on top of the noodles, accompanied by Fukujinzuke pickles.The sauce is based on Worcestershire sauce and blended with each shop’s original dashi-infused sauce, resulting in a milder, more mellow flavor than typical yakisoba.Cabbage and ground pork are commonly used as ingredients, and depending on the shop, you can also enjoy unique dishes topped with offal (motsu) and other ingredients. Purpose of the Event

The “Yokote Yakisoba Four Heavenly Kings Tournament” was launched in 2007 with the aim of raising the standards of “flavor,” “restaurant atmosphere,” and “customer service” at Yokote yakisoba restaurants.Targeting approximately 50 restaurants in Yokote City that serve Yokote Yakisoba, mystery judges selected from the general public conducted a tasting tour; the restaurants chosen from this round advance to the main competition held at Akita Furusato Village.The “Four Heavenly Kings” are selected through a disposable chopstick voting system by event attendees. This popular event was held through 2022 and was cherished by many Yokote Yakisoba fans.Subsequently, following the designation of “Yokote Yakisoba” as one of the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ “100-Year Foods,” the event was reborn in 2023 as the “Yokote Yakisoba Festival,” with the aim of promoting this culinary culture for future generations.

Held 14 times, the “Yokote Yakisoba Four Heavenly Kings Tournament” has greatly contributed to improving the quality of each restaurant’s offerings and enhancing visitor satisfaction. Today, the “Yokote Yakisoba Festival” has evolved into an event where visitors can not only compete for rankings but also leisurely enjoy Yokote Yakisoba with family and friends.

The most anticipated event of 2026 is the “Yokote Yakisoba Favorite Noodle Grand Prix.” This voting event is reminiscent of the “Yokote Yakisoba Four Heavenly Kings Tournament” held in the past, allowing visitors to sample different dishes and vote for their favorite.Voting will take place in two categories: “Classic” and “Creative.” In the Creative category, new Yokote Yakisoba recipes selected from the general public will be featured. Which shop will ultimately claim the title of “Yokote Yakisoba Favorite Noodles Grand Prix”? Be sure to enjoy comparing the dishes at the venue and cast your vote for your “favorite noodles”!
