Awara Onsen is one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Fukui Prefecture, and is popular as an out-of-the-way place in the Kansai region! The following is an introduction to sightseeing spots around Awara Yunomachi Station on the Echizen Railway Mikuni-Ashihara Line, the gateway to Awara Onsen.

Enjoy a footbath and a food stall village in one place! Awara Yunomachi Station

The nearest station to the hot spring resort is Awara Yunomachi Station, which is about 40 minutes from JR Fukui Station on the Echizen Railway Mikuni-Ashihara Line, a local train line connected to the station. For those coming by Hokuriku Shinkansen, it is also only a 15-minute drive or bus ride from JR Awaraonsen Station. As soon as you get off the train, you will be greeted by an information board featuring the local characters "Yumorimachi Brothers"♪ The attraction of Awara Yunomachi Station is that you can enjoy a footbath and a food stall village in one place!

For those who want to enjoy hot spring baths in a casual manner, be sure to stop by "Ashiyu," a free footbath facility located right outside the station. You can enjoy three different types of hot spring water in five different bathtubs. The bathtubs are made of Fukui's Shakudani stone, which turns blue when wet. 5 bathtubs, including an open-air style and a sunken kotatsu style, have different qualities and effects, so be sure to try them all when you visit.

You can bring your own towels, but you can also get towels with Awara City's official character "Yuguri Brothers" on them, which can be purchased from vending machines in the museum! We also recommend them as souvenirs♪ Why not get a cute towel for 300 yen?

This is also a 2-minute walk from the station! Yukemuri Yokocho" where you can enjoy the food stall village.

Awara Onsen Yatai Mura Yukemuri Yokocho (Awara Hot Spring Stall Village) is located next to Ashiyu, just a short walk from Awara Yunomachi Station. Each stall is small, with only about 10 seats, but you can enjoy a wide variety of food stalls, such as shish-kebabs, chicken wings, oden, ramen noodles, and more. It is also a popular place for tourists and locals alike, so it is a great place to interact with locals.
